Rene Semuel Cassin ( Fr. René Samuel Cassin ; October 5, 1887 , Bayonne - February 20, 1976 , Paris ) - French lawyer and public figure, one of the authors of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights . Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1968 [5] and the UN Prize for Human Rights that year. President of the European Court of Human Rights in 1965-1968.

He served on the fronts of the First World War, after which he organized an organization of veterans of the left political orientation.
In 1941-1943 Minister of Justice in the Government of Free France .
He was the first president of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers [7] .
