Biography
Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tartu (Department of Russian Language and Literature) in 1992. Specialist in the history of Russian literature of the 20th century ( M. Kuzmin , Andrey Nikolev , Evgeny Kharitonov , etc.)
In 1989 - 1992 - Junior and then senior researcher at the Anna Akhmatova Museum at the Fountain House . In 1989-1990 - Editor of the journal " Bulletin of New Literature " (Leningrad, Vol. 1-2), member of the editorial board of the samizdat literary magazine "Equinox" (Moscow, 1989-1990). In 1993 - 1997 - PhD student at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem . In 1998 - the editor of the magazine "Session" ( St. Petersburg ). In 1999 - 2002 - Chief Editor of the magazine " New Russian Book " ( St. Petersburg ). Since 2002 - in Moscow, the chief editor of the journal " Critical Mass " (2002-2007). In 2008–2012 - Chief Editor of the Media section of the site OpenSpace.ru . Since 2012 - Chief Editor of the Literature Department of the Colta.ru website. In 2013—2014 - Author and head of the RIA Novosti project “Independent Media in Russia: a quarter of a century” [1] (suspended due to the closure of RIA Novosti). Since 2016 - Chief Editor of the Open University project website.
Member of the editorial board of the journal " Mirror " (since 1996 ). Member of the Writers' Union of St. Petersburg (since 1999), the Andrei Bely Award Committee (1999–2014), the Big Book Literary Academy (since 2007), the Board of Nominators of the Joseph Brodsky Memorial Scholarship Fund (since 2007).
Anti-Booker Prize 1998 short list (for comments on the 1934 Diary of M. Kuzmin). The Andrei Bely Prize of 2017 in the category “For Services to Russian Literature” (he refused an award).
