History
The group "Electro-Sudden Therapy" was formed in 1986 by Jean Sagadeev and brothers Andrey and Victor Gerneza.
Already in 1987 , "E.St." joins the ranks of the Moscow Rock Lab and makes its successful debut at the Festival of Hope (1988). Having played a landmark concert in Riga (1988), the renewed composition of the group is sent to Sverdlovsk to the all-Union rock festival “Sverdlovsk-Metalloplastica” ( 1988 ), and by a unanimous decision of the jury “E.St.” gets the first prize of the festival. The group acquires the status of “cult”, - the songs “Father, take pity on the horses”, “10 happy years”, “Bitch” and “Remember, Katyusha” are still tops of the genre of Russian anarchic rock.
At the beginning of 1989 , in the studio of Alexander Kalyanov, "E.St." record their first demo album "Russian Vodka". The record is produced by guitarist and composer Valery Gaina (group “ Cruise ”).
In the same 1989, the West German music label Destiny (David Polak, West Berlin ) became interested in the group. Enlisting the support of an influential patron in the face of BIZ Enterprises , "EST" quickly takes a worthy place among the well-known rock bands of the USSR , and in the company of its manager goes to the first foreign tour.
A series of concerts in the cities of the Federal Republic of Germany ends with the recording of the vinyl disc “Electro Shock Therapy” ( Destiny , 1989), which was highly appreciated in the Western music press. The cost of the production of the plate took over the music label "Destiny".
Organized by Destiny, a promotion tour in support of the released album was successfully held in 20 cities in West and East Germany, and caused an unprecedented sensation among the local rock public. The halls were full, rave reviews appeared in the newspapers, and the radio stations offered prime time on their broadcasts.
Returning to their homeland, the group begins to work on the first album, and in the summer of 1991 , "BIZ Enterprises" presents to the Russian rock public a vinyl record "EST" "Trial of the Pen" ( Allen Records , 91). The brilliant work of producer Valery Gaina was highly appreciated by music critics and found a worthy response among fans of Russian rock music: only in the summer of 1991, the album sold 200,000 copies, which immediately brought the band into the ranks of leading domestic rock bands.
The same summer, in the days of the August 1991 events , the leader of the group and its manager find themselves in the ranks of the defenders of the future 1st President of the Russian Federation , and on August 22 the group “EST” takes part in the concert “ Rock on the Barricades ” near the walls of Bely At home ", which is broadcast live by the MTC channel.
Perhaps the most important event in the life of the group "E.St." -1991 years, is considered to be her performance at the international rock festival 'Monsters of Rock "in Tushino - one of the largest concerts in the history of rock music, at which" EST "performed along with the legends of world rock AC / DC , Metallica , Pantera and Black Crowes. According to various estimates, the concert audience numbered from 600,000 to a million people (on the headliners of the concert).
From the video footage, the film “For Those About To Rock: Monsters In Moscow”, which was realized by Warner Brothers in 1992, was edited. The film went into rotation on the western channels of MTV , and then appeared at the box office in many countries around the world.
In the fall of 1992 , in the studio of SNC Records ( Stas Namin Center ) "EST" recording their "Tushino performance", LP "Live In Moscow Outskirts ( Allen Records , 1992), recorded by the musicians of leading Russian rock bands. Later, the audio track of this album is used to edit the Russian version of the" EST "concert in Tushino ( WMG , 1992)
By the mid-90s, the style of “ anarchic rock ” is firmly in the youth fashion - the “therapists” have followers and frank imitators. The ability to interest their audience with a skillful combination of Western rock music and Russian folklore helps the band make successful tours in the West: the musicians have time to visit Belgium , Austria , the USA , Finland , Germany and East Germany several times.
In 1995 , the album "13" ( PolyGram Rusia , 1995). Produced by his guitarist and arranger Igor Zhirnov ( Black Obelisk , Rondo ). The video for the song “No, do you hear, no!” Turns daily on leading music channels and instantly becomes a hit of the season, significantly expanding the scope of the social categories of the fans of “EST”
Following the performances at the All-Union Festivals "Monsters of Rock USSR", the group goes on tour with Sepultura , plays at the concert venues in Moscow with Faith No More , Accept and Uriah Heep , takes part in iconic festivals, music events, television and radio programs.
At the end of 1997 , with the support of " TCI ", the group "EST" performs with a half-hour set to warm up from the headliner of the world rock scene - the legendary group " Motorhead " in the recreation center "Gorbunova " (Moscow)
The group gives several concerts with the famous theater and film artist Valery Zolotukhin . In a duet with Jean , the song “Masha” (“ESTT”) and the folk songs from the movie “ Bumbarash ” are performed. In the same composition, the group "EST" and Valery Zolotukhin appear live on the program " Anthropology " by Dmitry Dibrov (1997)
In 1998 , the album "Therapy for the Soul" ( PolyGram Rusia, 1998). In the same year, with the support of the PTP channel, a live video recording of the group “EST” was released as part of the Live Collection program. ( Union, MediaStar , 1998 - “J.IV.E.M.”, Moon Records , 2003). This is one of the most successful live concerts of the group, played and recorded on January 13, 1998 in the Ostankino concert studio.
In 2002 , a collection of songs by the group "EST - This is Best" ( Mystery of Sound , 2002) is released on CD, a successful combination of songs written by the group during different periods of creativity.
The album “Angry Rock” ( Mystery of Sound , 2003), which came out after the compilation, was described by critics as the best rock release of 2003 by many rock magazines in reviews. The songs “Rock villain” and “Kruši all on x ...!” Immediately became hits among fans of heavy rock music, and the hymn “ Night Wolves ” reflected the long-term friendship of the band with the famous Russian bike club.
According to the majority of connoisseurs of the creative work of the "ESTT" group, the album Rise! ( Moroz records , 2005), released in 2005, became the best after the epochal Sample of the Pen. Mad dynamics, manifested in the “Evil Rock”, was supplemented with extraordinary creative solutions both in arrangements and in the lyrics of songs. In addition, to the delight of the old EST fans, they again turned to their favorite anarcho-Makhnovian theme. The release of the album “Rise!” Was supported by the release of a collection of songs by the group in the series “ Legends of Russian Rock ” ( Moroz Records , 2004) and the DVD collection “EST Chronicle” ( Moroz Records , 2005), - a video about the creative activity of the group at various periods of time .
On May 31, 2009 , the last concert of Jean Sagadeev with the group “EST” took place in the Moscow club “Tochka” . On the night of June 4, 2009 , his body was found in his own apartment in the south-west of Moscow.
The post-album "The Spirit of Freedom" ( Not On Label , Self-Released, 2013) was realized by the efforts of the musicians of the last group in 2013 .
