History
San Martin was founded on September 27, 1907 by a group of former members of the Atletico Juventud club. The club is named after the hero of Argentina, Jose de San Martin . The first president was Octavio Alcolta. Quite quickly, Verdinegros became one of the leaders of the local league of the province of San Juan, the first champion of which in 1921 became the “San Martin”.
San Martin spent two seasons in Argentina Example. For the first time, the team played in the elite as part of the 1970 Nacional tournament. Then the “black and green” won only four matches out of 20 in their subgroup and finished at the bottom of the standings. “San Martin” became the first team in its province to break into the elite of Argentinean club football [1] .
According to the results of the 2010/11 season, “San Martin” managed to get into Example and gain a foothold in it for one season, after which, despite seven victories in the last 11 games in the Championship Final , the team flew back to the Second Division . The following year, the club took ninth place, and in the 2014 season in the transitional championship took second place in Group A, which allowed him to once again take part in the Top Division.
