Marcos Wafiadis ( Greek Μάρκος Βαφειάδης , 1906 , Erzurum , Ottoman Empire - February 23, 1992 , Athens , Greece ) - one of the leaders of the Communist Party of Greece and the Greek Resistance against the triple German-Italian-Bulgarian occupation of 1941-1944. Under his command, part of the People's Liberation Army of Greece (ELAS) released in October 1944 the main city of Greek Macedonia - the city of Thessaloniki .

He headed the command of the Democratic Army during the civil war in the country (1946-1949). After losing the civil war, he emigrated to the USSR, lived with his family (married in the USSR) in Penza [2] , and returned to Greece in 1983.
