The housing estate is located not far from the left bank of the Pur River opposite the confluence of the Bolshoi Khadyryakh River and not far from the confluence of the Yamsevei River.

History
The village is named after Dmitry Ivanovich Korotchaev , Hero of Socialist Labor .
December 20, 1982 received the status of a village within the Purovsky district. August 23, 1983 transferred to administrative subordination to the New Urengoy City Council .
According to the law of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug No. 107-ZAO dated December 16, 2004, the settlements of Korotchaevo and Limbyakha ceased to exist as administrative-territorial units and became part of the city of Novy Urengoy .

Korotchaevo is located on the Surgut - Novy Urengoy highway.
Korotchaevo station is the largest railway station in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. The terminal station of the Northern latitudinal railway .
