Preliminary Round The games were held between July 31 and September 13, 2007 . In the preliminary round, South American clubs (with the exception of Argentinean and Brazilian) were divided into groups, the winner left the group in the 1/8 finals. The groups were formed as follows: group A included representatives of Chile and Bolivia , group B - Ecuador and Venezuela , group C - Colombia and Peru , group D - Uruguay and Paraguay . Representatives of Brazil played among themselves, as well as representatives of Argentina (except for Boca Juniors and River Plate ). Winner of the 2006 Pachuca Cup , the rest of the North American clubs, as well as the 2 mentioned Argentinean clubs, reached the 1/8 finals without a preliminary round.
