Pyotr Vasilyevich Vasiliev ( 1899 - 1975 ) - Russian Soviet artist and graphic artist .

Member of the Association of Artists of Red Ukraine . People's Artist of the RSFSR (1970). Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1947). He created a number of drawings and paintings dedicated to V.I. Lenin and I.V. Stalin . Author of postage stamps .

Biography

P.V. Vasiliev was born on August 13 (August 25), 1899 in the village of Stayki (now Khvastovichi district , Kaluga region ).

Learning

In 1914-1919 he studied at the art school of Odessa . In 1921-1926 he studied at the Odessa Art Institute, where his teachers were K.K. Kostandi and P.G. Volokidin .

Career

Drawings and Pictures

Among the main works of the artist are the following:

The album "Lenin" (1937, 1938, 1944, 1945, 1949).
The album "Vladimir Ilyich Lenin" (1960, 1962, 1967).
Easel series "Vladimir Ilyich Lenin" (1943-1945) - is stored in the Tretyakov Gallery ( Moscow ).
A series of portraits "Vladimir Ilyich Lenin" (1946-1947) - is stored in the Museum of V. I. Lenin ( Moscow ). One of the portraits of this series was "canonized" by the Decree of the Central Committee of the CPSU (1948), as the most ideological faithful image of the leader, and adopted as an artistic standard.
The painting " Chapaev " (1934) - is stored in the Central Museum of the Armed Forces ( Moscow ).
The painting "Lenin, Stalin and Molotov in the editorial office of the newspaper Pravda" (1937).
The painting "Lenin in the days of the October Revolution " (1943).
The painting "The performance of V. I. Lenin on Red Square in 1919" (1949) - is stored in the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve ( Yaroslavl ).

During the Great Patriotic War, Peter Vasiliev made many sketches on the heroic work of Soviet people in the Ural factories.

The stamp, issued according to his sketch in honor of the 94th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Lenin, was recognized as the best mark of 1964 ( CFA (ITC) # 3026; Sc # 2890) . His drawings and paintings are also placed on stamps of Leninist subjects of such countries as Mongolia , North Korea , Czechoslovakia , India , Senegal , Togo .
