Vasily Yakovlevich Kiryakov ( 1800 - 1862 ) - Russian military leader, lieutenant general, participant in the Crimean War .

Biography
Came from the nobles of the Poltava province. Father - Yakov Savvich Kiryakov (d. 1826), was a college registrar .
He graduated from the 2nd Cadet Corps with the production of ensigns (1814), and served in the Nevsky Infantry Regiment . In 1817 he was promoted to second lieutenant , in 1818 - to lieutenant , in 1819 - to staff captains , in 1822 - to captains , in 1826 - to majors , in 1831 - to lieutenant colonels and in the same year, as colonels , in 1840 - as major general , in 1849 - as lieutenant general .
He participated in the hostilities against the Polish rebels in 1831 , for the difference against the rebels he was awarded the Order of St. December 25, 1831. George 4th degree (No. 4620 according to the list of Grigorovich - Stepanov). During the Crimean War, he commanded the 17th Infantry Division in a battle on the Alma River .
According to one version, Kiryakov is the author of the expression “Throw in hats” (however, back in March 1611, Muscovites who rebelled against the Poles said: “Soon we will throw you with hats and swept out our sleeves”) [1] .
In 1833, Kiryakov married Apollinaria Semenovna Myagkova (1817-1862), the daughter of Semyon Illarionovich Myagkov and Ekaterina Isaakovna Hannibal, the granddaughter of A.P. Hannibal .
In 1861 he retired. He died on May 9, 1862 in the city of Island . He was buried at the Mironositsky cemetery of Ostrov.
