Semyon Tigranovich Akhumyan ( armenian Սեմյոն Տիգրանի Հախումյան , February 17, 1930 , Yerevan , Armenian SSR , USSR - May 16, 2016 ) - Soviet Armenian organizer of higher education and statesman, Minister of Education of the Armenian SSR (1973-1989).

Biography
The son of the playwright Tigran Semenovich Akhumyan .
In 1952 he graduated from the philological faculty of Yerevan State University . In 1957 - graduate school of the Russian language department of the same university. Candidate of Philology. Since 1948 - member of the Union of Writers of the USSR .
Member of the CPSU since 1955
Since 1956 - teacher of Russian language and literature at Yerevan State University. Associate Professor ( 1965 ).
1963 - 1965 - Secretary of the Academic Council of Yerevan State University,
- 1965-1972 - Vice Rector for Academic Affairs,
- 1972 - 1973 - Rector of Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute of Russian and Foreign Languages Bryusov
- 1973 - 1989 - Minister of Education of the Armenian SSR .
He was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR . Member of the Central Audit Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Armenian SSR (1976-1990).
From 1992 to 2008 - Vice-Rector of Yerevan State University. Professor (1991).
