Yedlik, Anosh Istvan

Anosh István Jedlik ( Hungarian Jedlik István Ányos ; January 11, 1800 , Zemne , now Slovakia - December 13, 1895 , Gyor ) - Hungarian physicist, electrical engineer and inventor. Anosh Yedlik is also the pride of the Slovaks. (His Slovak name is Štefan Anián Jedlík)

He studied in Trnava and Bratislava . In 1817 he joined the Benedictine order, studied and taught in the order's schools, and from 1839 he taught at the University of Budapest for more than 40 years, in 1863 he was elected its rector. Since 1858 , corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences . Jedlik was one of the first teachers of the Hungarian high school who started using the Hungarian language for teaching, and made a significant contribution to the formation of Hungarian physical terminology.

Considered one of the inventors of the electric motor, he designed the first small electric motor in Rab (Gyor) in 1829 (four years before M. Faraday). Opened the possibility of the transition of electric energy into mechanical rotational motion by an electromagnetic method. In 1854, he made a valid battery, as well as a chain circuit and battery discharge, from carbon-zinc cells. In 1827 , Jedlik constructed the world's first dynamo machine , but practically did not announce his invention until the late 1850s. In 1840, invented the electric locomotive.
