Shyroonintsy - platoon soldiers under the command of Lieutenant P.N. Shironin , who took battle with the superior forces of the Wehrmacht near the village of Taranovka (Kharkiv region, Ukrainian SSR), from March 2 to March 6, 1943 .
History
In battles near Moscow and the North-Western Front, the 71st Marine Infantry Brigade distinguished itself, which later became the 2nd Guards Infantry Brigade , since April 1942 it was transformed into the 25th Guards Infantry Division .
After the battle of Stalingrad, the Red Army launched an offensive, during which it went out to Kharkov . The command of the Wehrmacht created a powerful grouping south-west of Kharkov, in number it exceeded the strength of the Red Army: by people by 2, and by aircraft by 3 times. 78th Guards Regiment of the 25th Guards Rifle Division, which included a platoon of Lieutenant Shironin, held positions near the village of Taranovka .

The platoon defended positions at the railway crossing [1] near the village. In the period from the 2nd to the 6th of March 1943 the platoon stood several battles for the move. On March 5th, the enemy made the most powerful attempt to seize the move, so that armored trains could go to the occupied positions to attack Kharkov. The platoon positions attacked 35 German tanks and armored vehicles . The only 45-mm cannon that was in the platoon was destroyed in the first minutes of the battle, but the soldiers fired with anti-tank guns, grenades and incendiary bottles, destroyed 16 tanks and armored vehicles, and fire from machine guns and pistols guns destroyed over 100 enemy soldiers. Several platoon fighters rushed with grenades under enemy tanks, sacrificing their lives. During the fierce battle, most of the platoon died. Only 6 people survived. All the dead platoon soldiers are buried in a mass grave in the village of Taranovka.
The commander of the 1st Czechoslovak Division, Ludvik Svoboda , whose division took the first battle alongside the 25th Chapayev Division, cited as an example to his soldiers and officers the feat of the Shironin heroes.
For this fight, the Shironinians began to be called Ukrainian Panfilov members .
March 18, 1943 By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, 25 people from the Shironin platoon were awarded the title Heroes of the Soviet Union .
