The 2nd arrondissement of Paris ( French Arrondissement de la Bourse ) with an area of 99 hectares is the smallest administrative district in Paris . It is named after the Paris stock exchange ( French Bourse de Paris ).
History
The 2nd district was formed as a result of the expansion of the city's borders northward in the 15th and 16th centuries, however, the first buildings arose in the 14th century. Built on the orders of Charles V, the at that time reached today's Rue D'abokir. Under Louis XIII, the district reached the current northern border, where today the " large boulevards " extend. The boundaries of the district were finally determined in 1860 .
Geographical position
The 2nd Paris district is located on the right bank of the Seine . In the north it borders with the 9th and 10th , in the south with the 1st , in the east with the 3rd and in the west with the 8th districts.
Population
According to the 1999 census in the 2nd district, the number of inhabitants was 19,585 people, the population density was 19,783 people / km². This means that approximately 0.9% of the population of the capital of France live here.
