Name Origin
The name appeared in the settlement of Pushkari , where in the XVII century lived Pushkari , gatherers ( gunners ) and gunners (casters, production workers). In the XVIII century, the lane was called Sumnikov (probably by the name of the landlord), but the original name continued to be used and in 1907 it was officially approved by the City Duma [1] .
In 1945 - 1993, the lane was called Khmelyov Street, in memory of the actor and director, People's Artist of the USSR N.P. Khmelev ( 1901 - 1945 ), the founder of the theater studio, which was located in this lane (in 1937, the studio joined Theater named after M.N. Ermolova , where Khmelev became the artistic director) [1] .
