In 1820 - Pronsk of the Ryazan province [1] . The second battalion of the regiment is located at the 2nd Ulan Division. The regiment was part of the 4th Infantry Division.
Regiment Formations and Campaigns
Formed in a three-battalion squad in Sevastopol on January 17, 1811, from the companies allocated to three of the garrison battalions: Baku, Tambov, Tsaritsyn and Poti. The battalions of the regiment consisted of 4 companies: one grenadier and three musketeers. In 1813, the 2nd Battalion was allocated from the Galitsky Regiment to form the 8th Jaeger Regiment , and in 1814 the 4th Reserve Battalion was formed in the regiment.
In the Russian-Turkish war of 1828-1829. The Galician infantry regiment on September 26, 1828, as part of the troops of the 2nd Corps, arrived at Silistra . After lifting the siege of Silistra on October 27, the Galician regiment as part of the rearguard, under the command of Adjutant General Count Suhtelen , covered the retreat of the siege corps from Silistra to winter apartments and crossing them over the Danube , and then on May 30, 1829, participated in the battle at d. In the Polish war of 1830-1831. The Galician regiment was in the army of Count Dibich (was in the 2nd Infantry Corps of Palen ).
On January 28, 1833, upon joining the regiment of the 10th JΓ€ger Regiment, it was renamed the Galician JΓ€ger Regiment; the regiment was composed of: 4 active battalions with a non-combat company and a combined reserve battalion with a combined non-combat squad, which was deployed in the 5th and 6th reserve battalions with non-combat squads during wartime. In the same year, the 1st and 2nd valid and 5th reserve battalions were awarded with signs for caps with the inscription: βFor Distinctionβ, for comparison with other battalions received from the 10th JΓ€ger Regiment, to which these signs were granted January 31, 1816 for exploits in the Patriotic War of 1812 and for campaigns in Europe in 1813 and 1814. In 1834, the personnel of the 6th reserve battalion (as part of the combined reserve battalion) was abolished, and the non-combatant company and its squad were included in the Furstadt division battalion. In 1842, the 5th reserve battalion was abolished, and instead of it, as part of the reserve troops, it was supposed to have battalions of personnel for the regiment, of unlimited leave,: the 5th reserve and 6th reserve.
In the Hungarian campaign of 1849, the Galician Jaeger Regiment was part of the column of Lieutenant General Labintsev ; On June 5, he left the vicinity of the town of Grabov, crossed the Carpathians and reached the village of Torno on the 6th. In 1863, the 4th battalion entered the formation of the Ural Infantry Regiment . March 25, 1864 regiment assigned number 20. On the occasion of the appointment of the chief on October 6, 1867, the regiment was named the 20th Galitsky adjutant general Count Kiselyov regiment, and on November 20, 1872, after the death of the chief, it still became known as the 20th infantry Galitsky regiment.
In the war with Turkey 1877-1878. The Galician regiment was part of the 9th army corps and took part in the capture of the fortress of Nikopol and in the 2nd and 3rd assaults of Plevna . On April 17, 1878, all three battalions of the regiment were granted the St. George banners with the inscription: "For the capture of Nikopol on July 3, 1877." On the brackets of the banner are the monograms of Emperor Alexander I and the inscription: "1811, Galician infantry regiment."
In 1879, out of 3 battalions of 4 linear companies and one infantry, 4 battalions of 4 company composition were formed.
