Angelina Vasilievna Shchekin-Krotova ( June 5, 1910 , Lebedin - August 1992 , Moscow ) - Russian art critic. Her family’s roots are connected with the Ukrainian city of Lebedin (Sumy county of Kharkov province), where her grandfather Nikolai Evgrafovich Shchekin-Krotov, a graduate of Kharkov University, was a well-known public figure and philanthropist: the head of the Lebedinsky Zemstvo Council (1910), the founder and trustee of the local male gymnasium ( 1906-1919). Born in the city of Lebedin, Kharkov province . In the early 1920s, her family moved to Moscow.
1927 - graduated from high school (former Alferov gymnasium ).
1933 - graduated from the excursion and translation department of the Moscow Institute of New Languages with knowledge of the German language. In the same year, she began working as a guide-translator in the Intourist system, and led a seminar on the history of Russian art in the Tretyakov Gallery for fellow translators.
1936 - was invited to the Central House of Children's Art Education to organize exhibitions of children's drawings and activities with preschool children, where she worked until 1940.
1939 - In the spring she met the artist Robert Falk at his personal exhibition in the House of Writers. In the same year, she married Robert Rafailovich, becoming his fourth wife. The family lived on the 4th floor of the famous Pertsov’s house , on the corner of Kursovy lane and Soymonovsky passage, where there were also the workshops and apartments of two Falk’s comrades-in-arms on “Jack of Diamonds” - A. V. Kuprin and V. V. Rozhdestvensky . Angelina Vasilyevna called this trinity “silent jacks of diamonds”, as opposed to “loud” - this is the three Konchalovsky - Mashkov - Lentulov .
1941 - with the beginning of World War II they were evacuated to Bashkiria , then to Samarkand . They returned in 1943.
1958 - R. Falk died.
1967 - Angelina Vasilyevna, having retired, devoted herself to the preservation and popularization of the creative heritage of the artist R. R. Falk. With its help, in the period 1960-1990. A number of personal exhibitions of the artist were organized. She also published a number of articles on the work of Robert Rafailovich. Many of Falk's works from the family collection were donated to museums.
