Aranjuez ( Spanish Aranjuez ) - a town and municipality in Spain , included in the province of Madrid as part of the autonomous community of Madrid . The municipality is part of the Las Vegas district (mosquitoes). It covers an area of 189.13 km². The population is 55,054 people (for 2010 ). The distance to the provincial capital is 47 km.

Aranjuez is located 47 km south of Madrid on the Tajo and Jarama rivers. The city has the famous palace and park ensemble - a monument of World Heritage . The patrons of the city are St. Fernando and Our Lady de las Angustiias.
History
On April 12, 1772, an agreement between France and Spain was signed in Aranjuez, in which Spain promised to stand on the side of France in conflict with Great Britain.
On March 18, 1808, the Spanish Revolution began in Aranjuez, as a result of which Charles IV abdicated.
From the second third of the 19th century in the Russian educated environment, a quote was popular (the initial replica of Don Domingo, the king's confessor) from the tragedy of Schiller Don Carlos Infant of Spain (1787): "The golden days of Aranjuez passed" ( adopted at the time of Russian transliteration).
