Albert Lamoris ( January 13, 1922 - June 2, 1970 ) is a French film director and screenwriter , known for his children's short films, which poetically expressed childhood imagination and won high prizes at film festivals of the 50s. He died during filming in a helicopter accident in the vicinity of Tehran .

Biography
Born on January 13, 1922 in Paris . At the end of the 40s, as a photographer, he tried himself as a film director. His film debut is Bim ( 1950 ), a 45-minute adaptation of Jacques Prever ’s children's book Bim, the Little Donkey. This is the first of six films directed by Lamoris, which became French children's classics and brought him world fame. His next film ( White Mane , 1953 ), he shoots in the picturesque landscape of Camargue in southern France . White Mane and the next short film Red Ball ( 1956 ) win the Grand Prix at Cannes . The Red Ball was also awarded the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival in 1956 and the Academy Award for Best Screenplay in 1957 .
In the early 1960s, Lamoris began staging feature films, which were much less successful, and then making short documentaries.
Lamoris died in a helicopter accident on June 2, 1970 in the vicinity of Tehran , in Iran , during the filming of the documentary “The Wind of the Lovers ”. This film was later edited according to Lamoris’s recordings and in 1978 was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary.
