Biography
Almost nothing is known about her life, except that she was married and had two sons, Hartmann and Heinrich (she mentions them in the end of the poem "The Last Judgment"). At the end of her life she retired to the monastery and took the monastic dignity. Usually Frau Ava is identified with the nun Ava from the Göttweig monastery near Krems or the monastery in Melka . Most likely, her two sons became priests, in which case they could help their mother spiritually carry the burden of monasticism.
Not knowing the Latin language , she, according to her own testimony, wrote from the words of her sons , who gave her the contents of the book.
