Four classic novels ( Chinese.四大 名著, pinyin sìdàmíngzhù, letters. "Four Great Creations") - a stable name for the four most famous novels of the Chinese literary tradition :
- " Three Kingdoms " (XIV century.)
- " River backwaters " (ca. XV century.)
- " Journey to the West " (XVI century.)
- “The Dream in the Red Tereme ” (XVIII century)
Before the creation of “The Dream in the Red Tower”, the fourth great novel was considered “ Plum Flowers in a Golden Vase ” (1610).
