Alfred Hutton ( Eng. Alfred Hutton , 1839 - 1910 ) is an English fencing historian and collector of knives. Author of the books Old Swordplay: The Systems of Fence in Vogue During the XVIth, XVIIth, and XVIIIth Centuries, with lessons arranged from the works of ancient masters, Cold Steel: A Practical Treatise on the Saber ( 1889 ), and The Sword and the Centuries - Or Old Sword Days and Old Sword Ways ”( 1901 ), combining reviews of fencing art from different countries and eras with practical advice for those wishing to master this art. Together with Egerton Castle, he organized public lectures and demonstrations of fencing skills.
