The Murmansk District is an administrative-territorial unit within the Leningrad Region of the RSFSR . The administrative center is the city of Murmansk .

The district was formed on August 1, 1927 by a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee from the Murmansk province as part of the Leningrad Region .
The district was divided into 6 districts:
- Alexandrovsky district (since 1931 the Polar region ). Center - the village of Alexandrovskoye (since 1931 Polyarnoye)
- Kola-Loparsky district . Center - the village of Kola
- Lovozero district . Center - Lovozero Village
- Ponoysky district . Center - the village of Ponoy
- Teribersky district . Center - Teriberka Village
- Tersky district . Center - Kuzomen Village
According to data from 1929, there were 17 national village councils in the district:
- In the Alexander district - Tsyp-Navoloksky Norwegian; Belokamensky , Gryaznogubsky , West Litsky , Ozerkovsky , Toros-Ostrovsky , Tyva-Gubsky , Ura-Gubsky Finnish
- In the Kola-Loparsky district - Ena-Babinsky , Notozersky Lopar (Sami); Peyvo-Yarvinsky Finnish
- In the Lovozersky district - Ivanovo , Lovozersky Izhemsk-Zyryansky (Komi); Voronezh Lopar (Sami)
- In the Ponoysky district - Iokangovsky , Lumbovsky , Semiostrovsky Lapar (Sami) [1] .
On January 7, 1931, the Lovozero district received the status of the native national, and the Alexander - the Finnish national.
On March 11, 1931, the Alexander Finnish National Region was renamed the Polar Finnish National Region, and its center was renamed the village of Polyarnoye . On August 15 of the same year, the center of the Tersky district was moved to the village of Umba .
In early 1935, the center of the Polar region became Murmansk. In February 1935, the Kirov District was formed with its center in the city of Kirovsk . At the same time, the Kola-Lopar region was renamed to Kola , and Ponoisky to Saami . The center of the Saami region has become the village of Yokanga , and the center of Tersky - the working village of Lesnoy .
The district lasted a little over ten years and was liquidated on May 27, 1938 by a decree of the All - Russian Central Executive Committee [2] . On May 28, 1938, the Murmansk region was formed on the basis of the Murmansk District and the Kandalaksha District of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [3] .
