Biography
The Rörberg family has Swedish roots. Georgy's father was the artist I.F. Rerberg ( 1892 - 1957 ), his mother was cellist Galina Kozolupova , daughter of People's Artist S.M. Kozolupov .
In 1960 he graduated from the operator department of VGIK (workshop of Boris Volchek ). He worked at the Mosfilm film studio.
Debut work in 1965 - the film " The First Teacher ." Already in this black and white film, his creative features were revealed: the severity of the visual solution, compositional clarity, documentary style.
In 1967 he shot the black-and-white film " The story of Asya Klyachina, who loved, but never married ." However, the film was released only 20 years later. In 1989, G. Rerberg was nominated for the Nika Award for best cinematography for his work in this film, and in 1990 he was awarded the State Prize of the RSFSR named after the Vasilyev Brothers among the filmmakers.
In color cinema, his talent as a landscape painter and portraitist was revealed. In the film " Uncle Vanya " the comparison of black and white and color frames takes on a dramatic character. This technique was developed in The Mirror , where the reality and concreteness of dreams is conveyed in black and white scenes, and in color - the beauty and spirituality of the childhood world, the dramatic nature of its loss. Various camera techniques (reportage shooting, rapid speed, intraframe movement of the camera , high-contrast lighting) realize the idea, create the imaginative structure of the film.
During the filming of " Stalker " between Rerberg and director A. Tarkovsky , a conflict arose due to the spoiled film "Kodak" on which the film was shot [1] . At the request of the director, Rerberg was removed from the shoot, almost the entire film was re-shot by the new cameraman A. Knyazhinsky . Igor Mayboroda, “ Rerberg and Tarkovsky. The reverse side of “Stalker” ”(2008) [2] .
At the 1981 Venice Film Festival , Rerberg was honored with a Special Jury Mention for his work in the movie Starfall directed by Igor Talankin. [3]
In the 1990s, Rerberg began to make films less and less, and focused on television advertising. It was he who, as an operator, shot the majority of videos in the series “World History, Bank Imperial” [4] .
He was married to actress Valentina Titova , who, during the filming of the film “ Father Sergius, ” left him from her husband, director Vladimir Basov [5] .
Mr. Rerberg died of a broken heart. He was buried at Vvedensky cemetery next to his father and mother.
