Early years

At the age of eight, Benny performed for the first time on the stage of one of the halls of his hometown. His grandfather and father Efraim and Jöst Andersson (Efraim, Gosta Andersson) sometimes performed as a family group of accordionists. In 1964, Benny, along with her lover - Christina Gronvall (Christina Gronvall) - became part of the group "Folk ensemble of the electric shield" (Elverkest Spelmanslag). During one of his performances, Benny played the keyboard for the founder and bass player of Hep Stars , Lennart Hegland, which ultimately led the young keyboardist to this ensemble in the fall of 1964 . Lennart phoned Benny and suggested joining the group. Without thinking twice, he agreed. The Hep Stars, led by lead singer Svenne Hedlund, included Janne Frisk guitar and Christer Petersson drums . The group mainly performed the repertoire of Chuck Berry (Chuck Berry) , Elvis Presley (Elvis Presley) , Little Richard (Little Richard) and other foreign stars. Benny Andersson composed his first song “No Response” in the fall of 1965 . The composition hit the top lines of the Swedish hit parade . “Sunny Girl” was the next work by a young author and in early 1966 she led the Swedish hit parade . In total, The Hep Stars recorded eight albums from 1965 to 1970 . In June 1966 , while touring the People's Parks in Sweden, members of The Hep Stars met the Hootenanny Singers . Benny Andersson and Björn Ulveus , having discovered the closeness of tastes, decided to continue communication for composing new songs. As a result, this became the starting point of the creative tandem of the two Bs, which continues to this day.

Movie Music

Benny has written music for several films . His first attempt in the early 1970s was the song for the Swedish film, The Seduction Of Inga. [1] The song “She's My Kind Of Girl”, written by him in collaboration with Bjorn, was released in Japan and hit the top ten.

In 1986, in collaboration with Anders Elyas, he composed the music for the film Mio in the Land of Faraway, based on Astrid Lindgren ’s book Mio, My Mio. The song "Myo, My Myo" performed by the band "Gemini" in 1987 becomes a hit in Sweden.

In 2000, a melody was written for the film “Songs from the Second Floor”.

In 1992, Benny Andersson wrote a popular splash ringtone for the European Football Championship in Sweden.

Personal life

Benny also has a son, Peter, and a daughter, born in the sixties during his relationship with Christina Grenwall. Son Peter Grenwal is a talented composer and performer. In the mid-80s, he created his own band Sound of Music, which later changed its name to One More Time .

Benny lived with Annie-Fried Lingstad for 12 years, of which 3 years - in an official marriage from October 1978 to 1981.

He then married Swedish television presenter Monet Norklit in November 1981. In January 1982, their son Ludwig was born. Ludwig followed in his father's footsteps and created his own band Ella Rouge.
