Neymat Panahov (Panahly) ( azerb. Nemət Pənahov ; born 1962 ) - Azerbaijani politician, leader of Black January , activist of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan .

Neymat Panahov was born in 1962 in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. He worked as a mechanic at the plant named after Sattarkhan in Baku. In November 1988, Panahov headed the committee of a continuous rally on the square. Lenin, after the dispersal of which in early December was arrested and imprisoned for several months [1] .
On December 31, 1989, he organized masses of ordinary citizens of Nakhichevan to destroy the Soviet-Iranian border. On the same day, December 31 was declared the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis
After the tragic events in January 1990, he emigrated to Iran , then after a while - in 1993 - he became an adviser to the President of Azerbaijan
In 1995, he resigned from his post.
In 2010, he returned to big politics and created the National Statehood Party of Azerbaijan.
In early 2011, he was arrested and sentenced to six years in prison on charges of "hooliganism."
