Parashurama ( Sk . परशुराम , paraśurāma IAST , literally “ Rama with an ax”) is the sixth dashavatar Vishnu in the form of a bearded man with two hands holding a bow and a battle ax. [one]
Vishnu came as Parasurama with the goal of ridding the varna of the Brahmins from the tyranny of the Kshatriya [1] The fifth son of Renuki and Jamadagni , the teacher of Bhishma , Drona and Karna .
Parasurama avoided the Battle of Kuruksetra .
The Vishnu Purana describes in detail the story of Parashurama. Parashurama was the son of Renuki and Jamadagni . Once the king, called Kartavirya , during the hunt visited the hermitage hut Jamadagni. Jamadagni generously treated the royal retinue with the help of his cow, Kamadhena, who could fulfill any desire. The king, admiring the wonderful qualities of a cow, asked the sage to give him a wonderful animal. The sage refused to Cartaviros, and then the king's son killed Jamadagni. During the king's return from the hunt, Parasurama found out about what had happened and, being furious with perfect blasphemy, chased after Kartavirya, overtook him and killed him in battle. After this, Parasurama swore revenge on the Kshatriya Varna and destroyed all the Kshatriyas on earth 21 times. [1] After completing all these killings, he performed atoning rituals, donated the land to Rishi Kashyap , and himself went to the mountains to repent on the sacred mountain of Mandara .
Unlike previous incarnations, where Vishnu clarified the meaning of creating the Earth, life and the first man, this time he revealed the act of creating a divine order. [one]

Parasurama and Rama
After the destruction of the Kshatriyas, Parashurama took up arms only once to strengthen his faith. When the caravan of Dasaratha was leaving Mithila , a strong wind rose and Parasurama appeared to meet the newlywed Rama , doubting the divine nature of Rama. He offered Rama the divine bow of Vishnu, the twin bow of Shiva's bow, who decided that the first bow had grown old and brittle. But having approached Rama, he believed in him and presented him with this great bow as his offering to the god Vishnu. With this onion, Rama went to the island of Lanka, and the gift of Parashurama greatly helped Rama.
Parasurama in Sculpture
Parashurama's height should be 120 angula (the width of the middle phalanx of the sculptor’s middle finger). He must wear a jata-crown and a sacred cord, as well as a deer skin. He has two hands [1] or four. If he has two hands, the right should hold the bucket (battle ax) [1] , the left - in shuchi mudra - an indication of something. If he has four hands, he must carry in them a battle ax, sword, bow and arrow.
