Content
History
Opava was founded in 1224 . It was the center of the Principality of Opava (from 1348 under the rule of the Czech king) and the capital of Czech Silesia . In 1820, the Troppau Congress was held here .
Residents of the ancient settlement (X century), standing on the Opava River, quickly appreciated the geographical attractiveness of these places, located on the way from the Baltic to the Adriatic Sea. Later, a large shopping center arose here, named after the breadwinner, the Opava, as well as trading yards, warehouses, and merchant mansions.
