History

Formed on January 17, 1811, in two companies, under the name of the Zhytomyr inner provincial half-battalion, which was reorganized into a battalion on March 27, 1811. On July 14, 1816, the battalion was named the Zhytomyr Internal Garrison Battalion. On August 13, 1864, the battalion was named the Zhytomyr Provincial Battalion, and then on August 26, 1874 it was named the Zhytomyr Local Battalion.

During the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878, a frame was allocated from the battalion to form the 23rd reserve battalion (this battalion was abolished on September 11, 1878), and the battalion was named the 46th reserve infantry battalion on August 31, 1878. On March 19, 1880, a banner was granted to the battalion.

On March 25, 1891, the battalion was reorganized into a two-battalion regiment and on April 1 it was named the 166th infantry reserve Lutsk regiment. On January 1, 1898, two more battalions were formed, and the regiment was named the 165th Lutsk Infantry Regiment. During the war with Japan, the Lutsk regiment was mobilized, but did not take part in hostilities. March 27, 1911, the day of the 100th anniversary, the regiment was granted a new banner with the inscription "1811-1911" and the Alexander ribbon.

It was completed mainly by natives of Kiev and the surrounding cities.

  • Berezin, Alexey Andrianovich (1870-1914) - colonel, hero of the First World War . In 1909 he commanded a battalion in the Lutsk regiment.
  • Kamenev, Sergey Sergeevich (1881-1936) - Soviet military leader, commander of the 1st rank. From 1900 to 1904 he served as a battalion adjutant of the regiment, with the rank of second lieutenant, on August 9, 1903 he was promoted to lieutenant. Later, from November 6, 1907 to November 7, 1909, Kamenev was serving the qualified command of the company in the 165th Lutsk Infantry Regiment.
