Regiment formations and campaigns
It was formed in the Caucasus on May 17, 1797, as part of 2 battalions, under the name of the 17th Jaeger Regiment, and on October 31 of the same year it was named after its chief, Jaeger Major General Likhachev . March 29, 1801 the regiment was named the 16th Jaeger and brought into the 3 battalions. In 1804, as part of the general Glazenapβs detachment, the regiment took part in the pacification of the Kabardins, in the assault on the position on the river. Cherem (May 14) and in a 4-day battle at the stone bridge on the river. Kuban . The following year, 2 companies of the regiment were assigned to the landing squad sent to Persia , and participated in the capture of the fortress of Anzeli . In addition, in the same year, the ranger battalion was in the detachment of Colonel Karjagin and made a trip to Persia . On June 22, 1806, the regiment participated, under the command of General Bulgakov , in the conquest of the Kazikumuhskago, the Cuban and Baku khanates. On July 1, 1819, the regiment was appointed to the 8th Infantry Division and marched to Russia. In the war of 1828-1829 with Turkey, the 1st and 2nd battalions of the regiment participated in the siege of Shumly and Silistra . On January 28, 1833, when the entire infantry was reorganized, the regiment was annexed to the Kremenchug Jaeger Regiment and composed its 3rd, 4th and 6th reserve battalions. In 1849, with the pacification of the Hungarians, the Kremenchug regiment participated on July 3 in the avant-garde case at Weizen and at Debrecin , and on December 25, 1849, βa campaign for military distinctionβ was granted to all battalions for their valor.
During the Eastern War, the regiment guarded the shores of the upper Danube and then participated in the siege of Silistra. The Kremenchug regiment appointed to strengthen troops in the Crimea on April 2, 1855 was appointed to the garrison of the city of Sevastopol and heroically endured its entire siege , for which it was awarded on August 30, 1856 the St. George banners with the inscription: βFor Sevastopol in 1854 and 1855 . ". In 1857, the 4th battalion of the Kremenchug regiment, formed from the 2nd battalion of the 16th jaeger regiment, was separated from the regiment and named the 4th reserve battalion of the Kremenchug infantry regiment. On April 6, 1863, from the 4th reserve battalion and indefinite leave of lower ranks, the 2-battalion Kremenchug reserve infantry regiment was formed, named August 13, 1863 as the Maloyaroslavsky infantry regiment and made up of 3 battalions with 3 rifle companies. During the formation of the Maloyaroslavsky regiment, the following insignia were transferred to him from the Kremenchug Infantry Regiment to the 1st battalion: the St. George banner with the inscription "For Sevastopol in 1854 and 1855" and "campaign for military distinction", granted for the pacification of Hungary in 1849. While pacifying the Polish uprising of 1863, the Maloyaroslavsky regiment took part in hostilities and was in 4 skirmishes with the rebels.
On March 25, 1864, No. 116 was added to the name of the Maloyaroslavsky regiment. On May 14, 1879, the 4th battalion was formed from 3 rifle companies and the newly formed 16th company. On May 17, 1897, the regiment celebrated its 100th anniversary and received a new St. George flag with the inscription: βFor Sevastopol in 1854 and 1855β and β1797-1897β, with the Alexander ribbon.
