Story
A girl with a baby in her arms escapes through the gateway from certain people in black suits. Before the pursuers overtake her, she manages to hide her child in a garbage container. People in suits drive her into a trap and kill her.
It takes many years. This child is already an adult young man named Angelino. He lives in a seedy apartment in New California , along with his friend Vintz and countless "home" cockroaches. Angelino works as a pizza delivery man and one day, distracted by a beautiful girl, gets hit by a truck. After this incident, strange things begin to happen to him. He begins to see that some people have unusual shadows with tentacles. Hanging around the city with Vintz and his other friend Willy, Angelino draws attention to some people in black suits watching them. In the evening, police special forces attack the apartment of Angelino and Vints. Friends suggest that they were confused with someone, but decide to hide for a while in the ghetto where Willy lives. However, there is also not safe. In the area there is a war between the "purple" and "green" gangs. People in black suits in search of Angelino come to the ghetto, but fall into the epicenter of street war.
Angelino and Winz go for a meal in their favorite Mexican eatery, where they meet a girl named Luna. The girl seems to sympathize with them, but in fact she is connected with people in black suits. These mysterious people capture Angelino and Vintza. Now Angelino finally finds out what is the matter. Aliens have long arrived on Earth. They can take a human form and have already penetrated into various spheres of human society, up to the government. Angelino is a half-breed. His father was an alien, and his mother a dugout. Now he must accept his alien essence and kill Vints in order to renounce his earthly past, or he will be killed himself. Girl Moon is also a half-blood, she is the daughter of Mr. Kay, the leader of the aliens.
The cockroaches living in Angelino’s apartment leave their home and set off in search of their master. Such strange behavior of a whole flock of cockroaches is shown in the news. This report is watched by Luchadore wrestlers , one of whom had previously seen a bloody sign in the form of a cockroach on his towel. Luchadors perceive such anomalous behavior of cockroaches as a sign and follow them. They arrive at the place where the aliens hold Angelino and Vintz and free them, and at the same time save the scientist who was there. Together, they hide in the desert, where under the guidance of a scientist build a rocket. She will be needed to arrange a cold snap, since the aliens cannot stand the cold.
Angelino and Winz escape from there and decide to hide from this whole story somewhere in Mexico. They call Willy to inform him of this, but it turns out that he was in trouble. Friends have to go to the ghetto to save him. At this time, the scientist and luchadors launch a rocket that causes rain, and then cold and snow. Aliens, struck by the cold, fall dead. Angelino, though half-breed, but the cold begins to affect him. He is saved and brought back to life by the kiss of the moon. Meanwhile, Bruce arrives in the ghetto to kill Angelino. He is a man, but works for aliens and still wants to complete the work they have begun. Angelino can use his alien forces against him, but intentionally refuses to resort to them. Ultimately, Angelino is rescued by street gang members who kill Bruce. The moon disappears without a trace.

Creation and release
French illustrator Guillaume Renard, working under the pseudonym "Run", began to draw his comic strip Mutafukaz in the late 90s while still a student. Gradually, he began to master flash animation and made several animated scenes, which he published on the Internet. Then, with his 3D-savvy friend, in 2002 he created the small 7-minute cartoon Mutafukaz: Operation Blackhead , which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival the following year. Guillaume Renard continued to draw the comic strip “Mazafaker”, the first volume of which he could only publish in 2006. In 2015, the last volume was released. Later in 2017, the Mutafukaz 'Puta Madre spin-off was still released [2] [3] [4] .
Work on the script for the full-length cartoon began in 2007 [5] . The work on the cartoon was officially announced in 2011. The first teaser appeared on June 22, 2015, at the same time the release date became known: 2017 [6] . The cartoon was created jointly by the French studio Ankama Animations and the Japanese Studio 4 ° C [7] . The main characters were voiced by French rap musicians Orelsan and Grange, as well as comedian Redouanne Harjane [8] [9] . The composer of the cartoon was the French musician [10] .
The world premiere of the cartoon took place on June 13, 2017 at the Annecy International Festival of Animated Films [7] . The cartoon was released in France on May 23, 2018 [11] , in Japan on October 12, in the United States on October 11. The stars were also invited for the English dubbing : Vince Staples ( Vints ), Giancarlo Esposito ( Mr. Kay ), Dasha Polanco ( Moon ), Danny Trejo ( Bruce ), Michael Chiklis ( Crocodile ), RZA ( Shakespeare ) [12] [13] .
Reviews
In both France and the United States, the cartoon received mixed reviews. The average French rating for 3.3 points out of 5 based on 21 reviews [14] . The Rotten Tomatoes website has a 41% freshness rating based on 17 reviews [15] . On the Metacritic website , the movie has 48 points out of 100 based on the opinions of 6 critics [16] .
Nevertheless, critics, even those who did not like the cartoon, highlight its graphic side, namely the rendering of backgrounds and attention to small details. In terms of history and style, many note the resemblance to the movie “ Aliens Among Us ” (1988) by John Carpenter , with one of the past anime Studio 4 ° C “ Reinforced Concrete ” (2006) and with the game Grand Theft Auto . American reviewers also warn that an American viewer may find the cartoon racist [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] .
