1. Fingers - parts of the body of four-legged vertebrates (optional), located at the ends of the limbs and serving mainly for touch and manipulation (especially in primates ) [1] . In birds, the fingers of the forelimbs serve as part of the skeleton of the wings , and in bats they are its main part.
2. Fingers ( English digits ) - tubular cuticular appendages located at the ends of the legs of the sea tardigrades of the families Halechiniscidae, Batillipedidae, Renaudarctidae and Neostygarctidae (class Heterotardigrada, order Arthrotardigrada), ending with claws or adhesives.

In humans , with the exception of cases of polydactyly and hypodactyly , five fingers on the arms and legs. Some languages, such as English, distinguish between fingers and toes .
Each of the five fingers of a person’s hands has its own name (from the inner finger to the outer): large , index , middle , ring , little finger . At the foot, only the outermost fingers (I and V) have names, they are also referred to as similar fingers - the thumb and little finger, and the other three are called by numbers - II, III, IV, starting from the thumb. Previously, the finger was called "finger" [2] .
