World Chess Championship match 1935

The World Chess Championship match between world champion Alexander Alekhin and challenger Max Euwe took place from October 3 to December 15, 1935 in 13 cities of the Netherlands .

Match schedule: 30 games for the majority.

The match was held in a bitter struggle and ended in victory for Euwe (+9 −8 = 13), who became the fifth world champion. After 9 games, Alekhine was in the lead +5 −2 = 2, after 19 games Alekhine was also ahead of +7 −5 = 7, but in the end he failed to maintain the advantage. It is believed that at that time Alekhine was not in good shape, including due to a hectic lifestyle and non-compliance with the sports regime. The last three games of the match ended in a draw, while Alekhine needed at least one victory in them.
