Electorate ( lat. Elector - voter) - a circle of supporters of a particular organization, voters who vote for a particular party in parliamentary, presidential or municipal elections . In a broader sense, it is used as a synonym for the country's electoral corps.
Elections
The long-established large political parties, as a rule, have a significant permanent electorate, therefore marginal voters are very important for the election results - hesitating voters who are not adjacent to the permanent electorate.
There is still such a thing as a protest electorate - voting against all or, in the absence of such a column in the ballot, for marginalized political parties, spoiling or carrying away ballots, etc. This is how people who do not support any of the candidates represented at the elections vote, believing that they are not suitable for the position for which they are running; or those who consider the entire political system of the country illegitimate (in this way, they try to sabotage it ; this is also called the “ Italian strike ” - a hidden protest) [1] [2] .
