History

In ancient times, there was one of the capitals of the kingdom of Chu - the city of Jiaoing (郊 郢).

During the Han Empire, Yingxiang County (здесь 县) was established here. In the era of the Three Kingdoms, these lands became borderline, and stone walls were erected at the ancient Jiaoing, so it was called Shicheng (石城, "stone city"). After the Chinese lands were united into the Jin Empire, Jingling County (竟 陵郡) was established, whose authorities were located in Shicheng.

In the era of the Southern and Northern Dynasties during the southern empire of Song , Changshou County (苌 寿县) was created here in 470. In the era of Western Wei, the spelling of its name was changed from 苌 寿县 to 长寿县 in 551, and then the Yingzhou (郢州) region was created, the authorities of which were located in these places.

After the Mongol conquest, the Yingzhou area became the Anlu County Government (安陆 府), whose authorities were still located in Changshou County. After the overthrow of the power of the Mongols and the formation of the Ming empire, the Anlu government in 1376 was demoted and became the Anlu province (安陆 州); Changshou County was disbanded, and its lands passed under the direct control of the regional authorities. In 1531, Anlu Province was re-elevated, becoming the Chengty County Council (承 天府); on lands previously directly subordinate to the regional authorities, a county was again formed, called Zhongxiang (钟祥 县).

After the Manchu conquest, the Chengtyan government was part of the Qing empire was renamed in 1646 in Anlu administration (安陆 府); The authorities of the council were still located in Zhongxiang County. After the Xinhai revolution , administrative reform was carried out in China, as a result of which the councils were abolished.

After the formation of the PRC, these lands in 1949 became part of the Jingzhou Special Region (荆州 专区). In 1970, Jingzhou Special District was renamed Jingzhou County (荆州 地区).

In 1992, Zhongxiang County was transformed into a city county.

In 1996, by the decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Jingshan County and Zhongxiang City County were transferred from Jingzhou to Jingmen.
