Biography

Born on October 4 ( 16 ), 1878 in the village of Uratma, Kazan province . He received his secondary education in Kazan, the highest in Yuriev: in 1906 he graduated from the historical and philological faculty of Yuriev University with a candidate 's degree in Slavic-Russian philology. As a student, from 1904 he began to publish articles on historical, literary and pedagogical topics.

In 1907-1915 he taught at secondary schools in Kazan. At the same time, in 1908-1911, Ilyinsky was a professor scholarship holder at the Department of the History of Russian Literature of Kazan University , a member of the board and librarian of the University of Archeology, History and Ethnography; since 1911 he taught at higher pedagogical courses in Kazan; Since 1912 - Privat-docent of Kazan University.

In 1915 he was sent for scientific studies in Petrograd and in 1916 he finally settled in it. In 1916-1919, he was a privat-docent of the Department of Russian Language and Literature at the Faculty of History and Philology of Petrograd University, and from 1919-1921, he was a professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Leningrad State University. After 1917, he taught at the Higher Courses of Library Science, in 1917-1920 - the head of the department of registration and description of periodicals of the Russian Book Chamber. In early 1917, he was introduced to the commission to review the program of activities of the Institute of Literature and Bibliography, which, after the creation of the Book Chamber in May 1917, became part of it as the Russian Bibliographic Institute. In the Book Chamber, L.K. Ilyinsky headed the department of registration and description of time-based publications, was a member of the presidium, the editorial committee and the bibliographic commission, traveled around the country and went around the Petrograd printing houses in search of publications that didn’t reach the house, spoke with an analysis of the Book Chronicle, worked at bibliological courses; “... now I have completely gone into the bibliography,” he wrote to P. N. Sakulin .

In 1919-1926, he was chairman of the commission for the description of Russian magazines in the 1st quarter of the 19th century. Russian bibliological society; in 1923-1926 - head of the bibliographic publication department of the State Publishing House. But the main thing in his work from the mid-1920s was the local history bibliography. L. K. Ilyinsky is a corresponding member of the Central Bureau of Local Lore, a member of the bibliographic commission of the Leningrad branch of this bureau, and after the creation of the regional bureau, he was the deputy chairman of his bibliographic commission, an employee of the journal Local Lore. On the pages of this journal, in reports and articles, Ilyinsky developed organizational and methodological issues of the local history bibliography: “The formal side of the work of local history bibliographers”, “Methods of bibliographic work. Biobibliographic work of local historians "," On the tasks of the bibliographic commission. " He continued to work in the Leningrad Regional Bureau of Local Lore and after he became ill, he became an academic pensioner in 1930.

L.K. Ilyinsky published about 250 works on the history of Russian literature, the theory and history of journalism, the history of censorship, the history of the liberation movement in Russia, local history and local history bibliography. He owns literary works devoted to A. S. Pushkin , G. R. Derzhavin [1] , I. A. Krylov , I. S. Turgenev [2] , P. I. Melnikov-Pechersky , F. M. Dostoevsky and other writers and poets.

He died on January 5, 1934 .
