Biography
In 1995 she graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy with a degree in pediatrics. In 1998 she defended her thesis, and in 2007 - a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic “Diagnostic value of optical coherence tomography in endoscopy” [2] .
In 2013, under her leadership, the Scientific Research Institute of Biomedical Technologies was created in Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy (in 2018 it was renamed the Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Oncology and Biomedical Technologies), to which she is a director to this day.
In 2016, she was elected professor of the RAS .
In 2017, it became a member of the Council on Science at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation [3] .
Scientific Achievements
He is a specialist in the field of biomedicine and biophotonics. Based on the method of optical coherence tomography, she developed methods for diagnosing early cancer of the colon, bladder and esophagus. The method allows determining the boundaries of tumors during surgical treatment, as well as visualizing the neurovascular bundle and microcirculation in the tumor during operations.
For the treatment of malignant neoplasms under the guidance of E.V. Zagainova, a method of local laser hyperthermia using plasmon resonance nanoparticles has been developed.
In the group of E.V. Zagainova, an in vivo method has been developed for assessing the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of innovative photosensitizers using fluorescence bioimaging. Studies have shown that mesenchymal stem cells can inhibit the growth of primary tumors and metastases. A method for the photodynamic treatment of tumors using the Killer Red photosensitizer has been developed.
