John Joseph Curren ( born John Joseph Curran ; February 22, 1842 , Montreal , Canada - October 1, 1909 ) - Canadian statesman, General Solicitor of Canada (1892-1895).

Biography
He grew up in a large family, where he was one of eleven children. He graduated from Montreal College of St. Mary and the University of Ottawa . In 1862 he graduated from McGill Law School and in 1863 was appointed to the Quebec Bar.
In 1865, he married Mary Elizabeth Brennan, seven children were born in their family.
In 1882 he was appointed royal attorney , and in 1885 - a judge of the Supreme Court of Quebec.
In 1892-1895 served as solicitor general of Canada.
Over the course of three convocations (1882–1896) he was elected a member of the House of Commons from the Conservative Party .
He was also a professor of law and a deputy dean of the University of Ottawa. Collaborated with a number of periodicals and the Catholic Encyclopedia.
