Musical career
Crazy Town
In 1992, Binzer met with Bret Mazur . They began to work together under the name The Sriggers Brimstone . By early 1999, they formed the Crazy Town group [11] . In 2000, the group was supposed to perform on the Ozzfest tour, but however they were forced to leave two weeks after Binzer was arrested after he threw a chair out the window when he was drunk [11] [12] .
The single of Butterfly , took first place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart , as a result of which the sales of their debut album The Gift of Game exceeded 1.5 million copies [13] .
Their 2002 follow-up album, Darkhorse [14], was a commercial failure compared to the previous one, and the band split up shortly after its release [15] .
The band announced their reunion in 2007 [16] , and first performed live in five years in August 2009 [17] . They released their third studio album, The Brimstone Sluggers, in 2015.
Solo career
During Crazy Town's break, Binser collaborated with British producer and musician Paul Oakenfold to record Oakenfold's vocals for Starry Eyed Surprise. The track was for Oakenfold Bunkka's first solo studio album. In an interview with Rolling Stone, an American magazine, Binser said the track, known as "Starry Eyed Surprise," was composed after he met Paul on the Crazy Town show [18] .
| I am a big fan of his music, and we just talked and decided that we should record a joint song. I already recorded vocals for him, got together and immediately started recording and finished it [18] . |
The single reached No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart in the UK and No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States .
Binser released his first solo album, Happy Love Sick, in 2004. He released two singles from the album: "Slide Along Side" - the pan-European hit Shift, who reached No. 29 in the UK with moderate success on the charts in Italy , France, Germany , Sweden and Switzerland . His next single, “Turning Me On,” was not so successful and missed the charts.
Shift and The Big Shots
In 2010, Binzer performed in the band Shifty and The Big Shots. They released their first single “Save Me” on July 6, 2010 [19] and released the single “City of Angels”.
Personal life
Seth Binzer married Melissa Clark in 2002. They have a son, Halo. In 2011, Clark filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Binzer dated a woman named Tracy in 2008. They have a son named Gage.
Binzer began a relationship with Jasmine Lennard in 2010. On March 27, 2011, police responded to a report of domestic unrest between the couple. In a video interview with TMZ, Binzer stated that the riots were just a noise complaint, and that an outstanding warrant was issued as a counter-attack against a security guard who used brute force to try to kick him out of the club [20] . Lennard and Binzer announced their engagement in 2012. Binzer was arrested in February 2012 for possession of cocaine and sentenced to a three-year probationary period; his relationship with Lennard ended soon afterwards. [21] Binzer and Lennard have a son named Phoenix. In 2013, Lennard appealed to a California court for exclusive custody of their son, saying that Binzer smoked crack in front of him and once left a pipe with crack in his room [22] .
