Club career

In 1998, the football player began his career in FC Utalia from the Kenyan Premier League. In 1999, the midfielder moved to one of the strongest clubs in Kenya, β€œTasker” and won two national championships. In 2000, he moved to Ghent, for which he played only two matches in two seasons, and in 2001 he was leased to Gent Seehaven FC from the third division, in which John Muiruri played 13 matches and scored 3 goals . Since 2002, he became a player in the starting lineup of Ghent, having played 26 matches (3 goals) in the 2002/03 season and 21 matches (1 goal) in the 2003/04 season. In the 2004/05 season, the Kenyan midfielder played 30 matches for Germinal-Beershot in the Belgian Championship. In the summer of 2005, a Kenyan footballer moved to FC Moss, for which he played in the lower leagues of Norway (second and third divisions). In 2013, the midfielder ended his career as a player.

Kenya Team

In 2000, the footballer began playing for the Kenya national team. He held his first match for the national team on April 8, 2000 in the qualifying tournament of the World Cup against Malawi, in which Kenya was defeated. On October 25, 2000, the midfielder scored the first goal for the national team in the match against Tanzania. Kenya won 3-0. In 2001, John Muiruri played three matches in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier. In 2002-2003, the footballer played 6 matches in the qualifying tournament of the African Cup of Nations in 2004, the Kenya team for the first time since 1992 entered the final tournament.
