DistributionThe range extends from the Philippines to Wallace , New Guinea and Melanesia . Rare flights to Australia are recorded.
DescriptionLength about 13 cm, wingspan about 27 cm. Weight about 11 g. Color from dark gray to brown.
BiologyThey feed on flying insects, especially ants . Nest in caves using echolocation, which is rare among birds. They can also build nests in tunnels created by man [2] .
SubspeciesThere are several subspecies of this species. Subspecies Aerodramus vanikorensis amelis and A. v. inquietus some experts consider separate species.
