Biography
Marius Zharomskis was born on July 30, 1980 in the city of Siauliai, Lithuanian SSR .
He began to seriously engage in martial arts at the age of 15 or 16, he practiced Kyokushin - karate and kickboxing - in both disciplines he became the champion of Lithuania among juniors. He later mastered Thai boxing and finally moved to MMA [1] .
Beginning of a professional career
He made his debut in mixed martial arts on a professional level in February 2000, spent two fights in the evening, one of which won and one lost.
Cage Rage
After a fairly long break in 2005, Zharomskis returned to the career of a professional MMA fighter and began to perform quite successfully in small promotions in England [2] . Since 2006, he regularly performed in the British fighting organization Cage Rage , where he won a total of five victories and suffered two defeats - both from the Englishman Che Mills . In the second match with Mills, the British champion in the Cage Rage welterweight category was at stake, but in the interval between the first and second rounds after a doctor’s examination, a technical knockout of a Lithuanian fighter was recorded.
Dream
In 2009, Zharomskis signed a contract with a major Japanese organization Dream , where he immediately became a member of the welterweight grand prix. Successfully passed his rivals at the stages of quarter finals and semifinals, then won in the decisive final match - thus becoming the first and only Dream welterweight champion.
Strikeforce
Remaining an active Dream fighter, in 2010 Zharomskis decided to try his hand at the large American organization Strikeforce [3] . Nevertheless, he did not achieve much success here - he lost by technical knockout to Nick Diaz and Evangelista Santos , while the third fight in the promotion was declared invalid due to an unintentional finger in the eye [4] .
Further career
Unable to gain a foothold in Strikeforce roster, Marius Zharomskis continued to perform in small organizations around the world, and also returned to Dream - at the Dynamite New Year's tournament !! 2010 defended his championship belt by beating TKO against Japanese veteran Kazushi Sakuraba [5] .
Bellator
Since 2012, Zharomskis was a member of the American organization Bellator [6] , made his debut here very successfully, winning the first two fights, after which he became one of the participants in the seventh season welterweight grand prix. In the quarterfinal, by unanimous decision of the judges, the representative of France, Nordin Taleb , defeated, but in the semifinal match he was knocked out by Russian Andrei Koreshkov .
In 2013, he participated in the grand prix of the eighth season of Bellator welterweight, but this time in the opening match he was stopped by the American Brent Widman , who won by unanimous decision.
In 2014 and 2015, Zharomskis spent two more rating fights in Bellator, one won and one lost - on that his cooperation with the organization came to an end [7] [8] .
