General information

The surface area is 5.6 km². The catchment area is 36.5 km². Altitude - 153 m.

It is located 56 km northwest of the city of Medvezhyegorsk and 19 km south of the village of Padany .

The structure, which is interpreted as a crater, stands out in relief, is visible in satellite images and has a diameter of 16 kilometers. There is a negative anomaly of gravity and an anomaly of the magnetic field. The age of breccia contained there is estimated at approximately 2.4 billion years [2] [3] (the Siderian period of the Paleoproterozoic era [4] ), which makes this crater one of the oldest known meteorite craters of the entire Earth [2] [5] .

On the other hand, not all researchers agree with the fact that the shock structure is at this place [6] [7] . It is possible that breccias discovered there with signs of impact metamorphism are associated with other craters (possibly even redeposited) [7] .
