The new capital of Indonesia is the city to be built on the island of Kalimantan . Its construction will begin in 2021, and the move of government bodies there - in 2024. The name of the city is still unknown.

In August 2019, the President of Indonesia, Joko Vidodo, in a television address spoke about the upcoming construction of a new capital. It will be held on the island of Kalimantan, near the cities of Balikpapan and Samarind . A land plot of 40 thousand hectares has already been allocated. Work will begin in 2021, and their costs are now estimated at approximately 466 trillion Indonesian rupees (33 billion US dollars). In 2024, government agencies will begin to move to a new city, the name of which is still unknown, [1] .
