Biography
Born in the city of Poti, Georgian SSR in a family of employees.
In 1937, his father was arrested and convicted, died in exile in 1943, rehabilitated posthumously in 1957.
In 1947 he graduated from a Russian-language high school with a silver medal and entered the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute. In 1953 he graduated from the institute and received the qualification of a shipbuilding engineer.
From August 1953 to December 1957 he worked at the Batumi Shipyard: a process engineer, foreman, shop manager, and head of the technical department. Member of the CPSU since 1955.
In January 1958, the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Plant “Ocean” was transferred to work, where he worked in various positions: deputy head of the sectional-slipway building and assembly shop, deputy head of the planning and production department (PVV), since 1961 - chief of the PVV, since 1963 - Deputy Director of the plant for production, since 1965 - the chief engineer of the plant.
From November 1982 to August 1996, he was Director of the Ocean Shipyard. During his management of the enterprise, large-tonnage ships left the slipways, the infrastructure around the plant expanded, and the Ocean sanatorium was built.
He died in April 2007.

By the decision of the Nikolaev city council No. 10/1 of July 1, 1999, the title “Honorary Citizen of Nikolaev” was awarded [1] .
Memory
In Nikolaev on a facade of the house No. 313 on Epiphany Avenue, in which N.V. Chanturiya lived from 1965 to 2007, a memorial plaque was opened.
At the Nibulon Shipbuilding and Shiprepairing Plant, construction of the tugboat Project 121M Nodari Chanturia, designed to work in shallow water areas, is underway [2] .
