Interesting Facts
“Man from the West” became one of the first author’s series on American television - Sam Pekinpa came up with his concept and storyline. The NBC channel took a certain risk, providing Beijing with complete creative freedom when working on the series. Pekingpa, who later became famous for his extremely realistic paintings, wanted for the first time to show on American television the gloomy and extremely ugly side of the Wild West, formerly portrayed only in a romantic vein. The series lasted only 13 episodes on air and, despite the unanimous approval of critics, was closed.
Digital Media Editions
For many years, the series was considered rare. It was first released on digital media only in February 2017 - the release was carried out by Shout! Factory as a double-disc DVD edition.
