Biography

Alexander Leonidovich Aryev was born on December 6, 1954 in Murmansk.

In 1978, he graduated from the medical faculty of the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute and began his professional career as a doctor in the intensive care emergency team.

From 1982 to the present, Alexander Leonidovich has been working at SZGMU im. I.I. Mechnikov (formerly - LenGIDUV, SPbMAPO).

In 1987 he defended his thesis on "Clinical and functional justification of the availability of physical activity for patients with chronic glomerulonephritis" [1] .

In 1998 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Forecast and medical and social examination in young men with primary glomerulonephritis" [2] .

Aryev is the founder of load functional tests with physical activity in nephrology; the author of modern principles of medical and social examination of nephrological patients; the founder of gerontonephrology and gerontostomatology in St. Petersburg and the formation of these areas of medicine as independent disciplines.

Alexander Leonidovich made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of geriatric services in Russia [3] .

In 1995-2000, he was the organizer and coordinator of the Russian-American continuing postgraduate education in nephrology in St. Petersburg.

From 1997 to 2008 he was the head of the department of gerontology and geriatrics of the St. Petersburg Medical Academy , then he became deputy head of the department [4] .

Under his scientific supervision 13 candidate and 5 doctoral dissertations were prepared and defended.

Member of four editorial boards: Nephrology, Advances in Gerontology, Bulletin of the St. Petersburg Association of Physicians and Physicians, Secretary-General of the Bulletin of the Gerontological Society of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Family

Married. Wife - doctor, surgeon, dentist, geriatrician, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor. Daughter - Alexander, who also followed in the footsteps of her father, graduating from the First St. Petersburg State Medical University. Acad. I.P. Pavlova and Paris University of the Sorbonne. Son - graduated from Russian State Pedagogical University named after A.I. Herzen, a lawyer.

Alexander Leonidovich - representative of the 4th generation of the medical dynasty:

  • Father - L. M. Aryev - colonel of the medical service, chief pathologist of the Leningrad military district, head of the pathological department of 442 District Military Hospital.
  • Mother - L.P. Aryeva - teacher and clinician, associate professor of the department of propaedeutics of internal diseases (hereinafter hospital therapy) 1 LMI named after Acad. I.P. Pavlova.
  • Grandfather - M. Ya. Aryev - cardiologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor, before the war he headed the department of therapy No. 1 of LenGIDUV.
  • Grandmother - R.I. Aryeva - received higher education in France (Sorbonne), worked as a dentist in Leningrad.
  • Great-grandmother was the representative of the first set of 50 women of the nobility of Russia, who for the first time in 1872 were given the right to receive higher medical education.
  • A cousin - T. Ya. Aryev , lieutenant general of the medical service, the founder of the treatment of thermal injuries: burns and frostbite, the founder of the world's first department of thermal injuries at the Leningrad Military Medical Academy named after CM. Kirov.
  • Grandfather (on the maternal side) - P. Nezhdanov - Colonel of the Soviet Army, awarded the Orders of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, Order of the Patriotic War, Order of Friendship of Peoples, Order of the Red Star, medals.
