Biography

Andrew Crosby was born on November 5, 1965 in a Bella Cule settlement in British Columbia , Canada .

Engaged in rowing at the Leander Boat Club in Hamilton , Ontario . He was a member of the Victoria Wikes rowing team while studying at Victorian University , and repeatedly participated in various student regattas.

He made his debut at the adult international level in the season of 1985, when he joined the main national team of the Canadian national team and spoke at the World Championships in Hazewinkel , where in the standings of oar steering eights he closed the top ten.

In 1986, in the eights he took ninth place in the world championship in Nottingham , became the fourth at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.

At the 1987 World Cup in Copenhagen in the same discipline was fifth.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , here he finished six in the eights.

In 1989, he made the fours at the World Championships in Bled , managed to qualify here only in the consolation final B and was located in the final protocol of the competitions on line 10.

At the world championships in 1990 in Tasmania and 1991 in Vienna, twice in a row he became a silver medalist in eights.

Being among the leaders of the rowing team of Canada, successfully passed the selection for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . In the program, the eights in the final round beat all his rivals, including ahead of the closest pursuers from Romania by 0.14 seconds, and thereby won the Olympic gold medal [2] .

Immediately after the Barcelona Olympics, Crosby decided to end his career as a professional athlete, but four years later he returned and earned his place in the Canadian Eight at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta with his results.
