Like other members of the family, Liocarcinus depurator is characterized by the transformation of the fifth pair of legs into wide lobes, which are used for swimming [2] .
It lives in the North Sea, the Irish Sea and the English Channel [3] . The width of the carapace is up to 40 mm; its color is brownish-gray with a green tint [4] . Outwardly, it is very similar to the crab Liocarcinus depurator [4] .
The diet of Liocarcinus holsatus includes crustaceans, especially juveniles of Crangon , mollusks such as Spisula elliptica , and fish [5] . Sometimes Sacculina parasitizes on it [4] .
