Biography

He came from the noblemen of the Irkutsk province , was born in Irkutsk around 1825, was brought up in the noble department, established in the village of Gruzina, and at the end of this department in 1844 he entered the non-commissioned officer in the Kremenchug infantry regiment , where he served for four years with the rank of lower rank and only March 12, 1848 was promoted to ensign with the transfer to the Sofia Infantry Regiment ; he stayed here for several years, and then was transferred to the foot battalions of the Transbaikal Cossack army , but was soon sent to St. Petersburg , to the Officer Rifle School .

After graduating from high school with honors, he was promoted to the next rank and in the same 1859 transferred to the Life Guards Tsarskoye Selo battalion as lieutenant, but less than a year later, was again sent to service in Siberia and appointed commander of one of the foot battalions of the Transbaikal Cossack army , and a few years later - the commander of the Irkutsk provincial battalion.

At this time, in 1866, he had to take part in the suppression of the well-known armed resistance of the exiles on the Circum-Baikal Road. Thanks to his energetic orders, the further movement of the exiles was stopped, and then the gangs of rebels that had already formed were scattered and captured and Rick was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 2nd degree.

In 1871, for the difference in service, Rick was promoted to colonel and subsequently appointed commander of the 41st Selenginsky Infantry Regiment , in 1872 he received the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree, and in 1874 - the order of St. Vladimir 4th degree.

At the head of his regiment, Rick completed the last Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878.

During this war, being part of the Ruschuk detachment, he had to take part in many matters. The Selenginsky regiment, led by Rick, worked a lot for a favorable outcome of the war.

For his military distinctions in this campaign, Rick received a golden saber with the inscription "For Courage" (1880) and the Order of St. 3rd degree Vladimir with swords (1878).

After the Turkish campaign, he still commanded a regiment for about eight years, was promoted to major general on October 22, 1885, and soon thereafter was appointed head of the 2nd brigade of the 19th Infantry Division, while continuing to be listed on the Selenginsky regiment. He commanded the 2nd Brigade until his death, which followed on July 9, 1888 in Maykop , the Kuban Region.
