Dimitris Ioannou ( Greek Δημήτρης Ιωάννου ; December 8, 1968, Limassol , Cyprus ) is a Cypriot footballer who played in the position of defender , a former player of the Cyprus national team . Now a football coach.

Biography

Club career

He began his career at the club from his hometown Apollo (Limassol) , where he played from 1990 to 1995 and spent 128 matches in the Cyprus Championship , twice becoming the champion of the country. In 1995, Ioannou moved to Anorthosis , where he spent 6 years of his career and won the national championship four times. After leaving “Anorthosis” for some time he played for the teams of the major league “Olympiakos” (Nicosia) and AEP . He completed his playing career in 2003.

After the completion of his career, he works as a coach.

Team Career

He made his debut for the Cyprus national team on February 27, 1991 in a friendly match with the Greek national team . In total, he played 51 matches in the Cyprus national team and scored 3 goals, in at least one match he was the captain of the national team. The last match for the national team was played on November 15, 2000 against the national team of Andorra [1] .
